This year, for the first time, there will be so called “7 Years Award”. The idea is to go back 7 years, and find what the most influential paper was that was presented at ESWC or its predecessors. This is the first time this award is given. When this exercise was done, we found one very positive thing, that made the decision more difficult. There were really excellent, outstanding papers, that we can be proud of that were presented at this conference. They started, they opened new areas that flourished after the conference at that time. The bad news was that there were two extremely strong papers, and it was quite difficult to make a decision between them. A decision was made, so, ...
Now, the contenders who won in this very tight competition, were Fausto Giunchiglia, Pavel Shvaiko, Mikalai Yatskevich on their work on “S-Match: an Algorithm and an Implementation of Semantic Matching”.
